Actor Shilpa Shetty’s businessman husband Raj Kundra’s picture with a policeman seems to have landed the latter in trouble.
Kundra, along with three others, went to Kongaon police station in Bhiwandi on Wednesday to record his statement in connection with a cheating case.
He apparently took a picture with the investigating officer (IO), V Deshmukh, which he later uploaded on his Instagram account.
The caption on Instagram read: “Visited a Police station in Thane. I honestly feel sorry for the cops who work endless hours in very mediocre surroundings. Government needs to spend more on upgrading their stations for a better working environment for all cops. A picture With Inspector #Deshmukh ji.”
The Thane police have removed him from the case and initiated an inquiry against him.
“One has to be professional. We took Deshmukh off the case because he clicked a picture with Raj Kundra, who is an alleged accused in a cheating case,” said Manoj Patil, deputy commissioner of police (zone II).
M Sawant, senior police inspector of Kongaon police station, will now handle the case.
Last month, the Thane police booked Shetty, Kundra and three others – all directors of an online shopping TV show Best Deal – for allegedly cheating a textile firm owner of Rs24 lakh.
