He had also threatened to protest against the authorities if they did not stop collecting toll tax.

On Tuesday, a large number of Sena workers gathered at the toll plaza and staged a protest before shutting down the toll booth forcefully.

Meanwhile, sources in MIAL, which operates the airport, said that they charge of Rs130 to deter tourist vehicles from parking at sensitive spots. “There is a designated area from where they can pick up passengers, but they cannot park there. We have repeatedly told the drivers of tourist vehicles to not park or pick up passengers from close to the terminal but they never listen. To deter them, we charge them Rs 130,” said a source.

However, Parab said that not just tourist vehicles but all cars coming to the airport are charged Rs130, which is illegal. “Apart from the toll, parking charges are also taken from the vehicles due to which the citizens feel that they are cheated,” said Parab.
