Speeding car hits speed breaker, injures 7 in Thane near Mumbai

Seven people, including three teenagers, were injured in an accident at Kalwa in Thane near Mumbai on Tuesday morning, after a car hit them while crossing the road.
The children were heading to school with their parents.
The three children were identified as Rashi Kadam, 14, Soumya Velingkar, 14, and Sailee Kadam, 14, and their parents as Rajesh Velingkar, 47, Shashi Kadam, 43, and K Kadam, 49. The family resides in Vitawa, Kalwa.
Apart from the family, a coconut vendor, identified as S Choudhary, 62, was also hit by the vehicle. The injured people were rushed to near by civil hospital, and were later shifted to a private hospital.
The accused, identified as Vishal Subhash Dangle, 22, is a driver by profession and a resident of Titwala.
On Tuesday morning around 6.30am, three children and their parents were waiting for a rickshaw when a speeding car hit them. “Dangle first bumped in to a speed breaker. As he speeding, he lost control of the car and drove over a footpath, hitting the coconut vendor first and then the family. The impact of the accident was so strong that all six of them were flung in the air,” said a police officer from Kalwa police station.
The locals rushed to the spot and the driver was handed over to the police, while injured were taken to a hospital.
