A former executive of Tata Motors committed suicide by jumping off the 15th floor of his building in Parel on Friday morning.
Prashant Sibal, 43, lived with his family at Kalpataru Habitat in Parel.
Kalachowky police said they received a call from Sibal’s society members after the incident. They reached the spot and took Sibal to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Dilip Ugale, senior police inspector of Kalachowky police station, said they had found a suicide note in Sibal’s bedroom, which said he was ending his life and did not blame anyone for his death. The police have recorded his family’s statements. They have also spoken to the other residents of Kalpataru Habitat.
Sibal’s wife told the police that he was being treated for depression since April. “According to his family, Sibal was suffering from depression since April 2017. He would remain aloof and lock himself in his room all day,” said Ugale.
“We have registered a case of accidental death. Investigations are ongoing,” said N Ambika, deputy police commissioner, Zone IV. The police will also question the employees of Tata Motors to find out more about Sibal.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing away of Mr Prashant Sibal, a former employee of Tata Motors. He had opted for our voluntary retirement scheme in April. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, who we will provide support to. We are fully cooperating with the authorities investigating this matter,” the official Tata Motors spokesperson said.
