The 23-day long clean up drive in Thane will finally end on a high note on Sunday amid five lakh people and hoards of celebrities. The clean-up will be conducted at fifty spots across the city, and all the residents will gather at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane to take a pledge of cleanliness.
“The drive will see participation from people from all walks of life including doctors, sportspersons, traders, senior citizens, developers and celebrities. Various actors including Vivek Oberoi, Amrita Rao, Esha Koppikar, Suzanne Bernert, Prashant Damle, Mangesh Desai and Bhau Kadam will also join the residents,” said Sandeep Malvi, public relation officer of Thane Municipal Corporation.
Thane civic chief Sanjeev Jaiswal had come up with a holistic clean-up drive of the city wherein every nook and corner was targeted. The drive was carried out in coordination with the residents, and various private and government organisations in the city.
“All schools in the city had also joined the drive along with majority of the residential complexes. Fifty bikers will initiate a bike rally in the city, holding placards with a message of cleanliness. A human chain of over five thousand residents between Anandnagar to Patlipada and Teen Hath Naka to Meenatai Thackeray juntion will be formed,” Malvi added.
To notify people to start the clean-up at fifty places at a go, a siren will be played in the morning exactly at 8.00 am at the fifty sites in the city, and balloons will be released in the air to flag off the drive. Flowers will be thrown on the people who have gathered at the stadium from choppers.
