The Khadakpada police in Kalyan have recovered 16 two-wheelers and nine mobile phones from a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy who were arrested last week.

The minor was on Tuesday produced in court and sent to child home while Mammu alias Wasim Sanjay Irani, a resident of Ambivli in Kalyan, was sent to judicial custody.

“We recovered seven two-wheelers worth Rs3.70 lakh from Irani and nine two-wheelers worth Rs5.15 lakh from the minor. We also found 10 mobile phones worth Rs1 lakh from them. They executed their robbery plans mostly in Thane,” said Sanjay Shinde, deputy commissioner of police from Zone 3.

Shinde suspects that more people are involved in theses robberies.

Irani was wanted under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999.

He was arrested from Kalyan on April 21 after the police got a tip off about his whereabouts. During investigation, he revealed the name of the minor who was arrested too.

“The two were involved in mobile thefts and other robberies. The minor plunged into the criminal world when he was 13. Earlier, he was also arrested in an attempt to murder case and for pelting stones on personnel from Khadakpada police station,” said a police officer. “Still we believe there are a few stolen items, location of which, the two have not revealed to us,” said B. Roham, inspector from Kalyan zone.
