The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced that it plans to clear off encroachments on all the amenity and reserved plots acquired by the corporation before December 15. The encroachments on reserved plots that are not yet acquired by the corporation will also be targeted after December 15.
Civic commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal has asked officers to prepare a list of reserved and amenity plots acquired by the corporation in the last few years.
TMC has, till date, acquired 250 reserved plots and 25 amenity plots, wherein the corporation has paid the transferable development right (TDR) to acquire them..
“These plots have four to five percent encroachment, which we will start razing from December 5 and complete demolition by December 15. Apart from these, the general reservation plots which we have not yet acquired are also encroached to about 25 percent. We will target these plots after December 15,” said Jaiswal.
The general reserved plots includes those reserved for playgrounds, recreational purposes or schools among others. Jaiswal said that in case the plots contain slums, they will be rehabilitated if they are eligible. “However, there will be no rehabilitation policy for plots which we have acquired,” he added.
