The Thane crime branch arrested three men — who were earlier held for vehicle theft in 2015 — on Wednesday, after they confessed to committing a murder in Dombivli in 2012.

The accused, Yunus Shaikh, 33, Raju Singh, 32, and Bablu Chaurasia, 34, are part of the gang known as ‘killer gang’. They were recently arrested by the local crime branch of the Thane police.

During interrogation, they confessed to murdering former gang member Samiul, as they suspected that he had become an informer and tipped off the police about their involvement in theft and trafficking of women.

The three took Samiul out to drink alcohol. After he was drunk, they murdered him below a bridge and threw his body into the creek.
