Three women arrested in Mumbai with drugs worth ₹29 lakh
While one woman was caught with Heroin worth Rs27 lakh, the other two had dugs worth Rs1.79 lakh and Rs14K with them.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Mumbai crime branch arrested three women in two separate cases for possession of drugs worth Rs29 lakh on Wednesday.
In the first case, the Worli unit of the ANC of Mumbai crime branch arrested Merry Kannan Tewar, 30, from Wadala Truck Terminus area, when they recovered 272g of Heroin worth Rs27 lakh from her. During questioning, an ANC official learnt that Tewar, a resident of Sion Koliwada, was a drug peddler and operated in the areas of Wadi Bandar and Wadala TT.
In another case, the Azad Maidan unit nabbed Nasrin Immam Shaikh, 25, from Raichur Street at Wadibandar area and found drugs worth Rs1.79 lakh on her.
Shaikh, a resident of Masjid Bandar area, when searched on the basis of suspicion, the police found 102 boxes of 51,000 tablets of Alprazolam, 9 boxes with 5,400 tablets of xl-pam 0.5, 16 boxes containing 4,800 tablets of Nitrazepam and 65 bottles of cough syrup containing codein Phosphet with her, said an ANC official.
Shaikh was arrested under sections of the NDPS Act and she revealed the name of Reshma Mujahin Khan, 30, who had sold her the drugs, during interrogation. A police team then visited Khan’s residence and found 144 bottles of Kodeine Phosphate worth Rs14,256. Khan was also arrested under the NDPS Act.
