Train trouble ahead: Western Rly to hold 9-hour mega block on Mumbai’s harbour line on Sunday
North-bound fast trains will not stop at Jogeshwari station. Commuters will be allowed to travel back from Ram Mandir station
Plan to travel on the western railway on Sunday? Brace for trouble as the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) plans to hold a nine-hour long mega block, from 7am to 4pm, between Andheri and Goregaon stations on Sunday.
The block on the northbound slow line will be imposed to extend the Harbour line from Andheri to Goregaon, under the second phase of the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP-II).
Western Railway spokesperson said they will divert the slow services on the down line on the fast track during the block period. Consequently, north-bound fast trains will not stop at Jogeshwari station. Commuters will, however, be allowed to travel back on the down slow line trains from Ram Mandir station.
WR sources said all fast trains will halt at Jogeshwari station, barring 15-car trains and Goregaon-bound trains.
The railways plan to complete the work by December.
Last Sunday, the MRVC imposed a 12-hour block along the same stretch to dismantle a platform at Jogeshwari station.
