Owing to the problem, six mail and express trains were held upmumbai Updated: Nov 27, 2016 00:10 IST
Central Railway services between Titwala and Kalyan were disrupted after an overhead wire broke and got entangled with the pantograph of a Titwala local in the early hours of Saturday. Services remained affected from 5am to 11.15am.
Even after services resumed, commuters faced a tough time reaching Kalyan and office-goers found themselves late.
“The services were disrupted on UP line between Kalyan and Titwala as the overhead wire snapped. After we received complaints about the problem, a team immediately rushed to the spot. The wiring was fixed. The most-affected commuters were those between Titwala and Kalyan,” said AK Singh, public relations officer, CR.
Owing to the problem, six mail and express trains were held up. During this time, Kasara, Asangaon, and Titwala-bound suburban services were running till Kalyan and back. Special suburban services were run from Kalyan to CST. Commuters on these stations were permitted to travel by the 15645 LTT-Guwahati Express which halted at all stations from Titwala to Kasara. The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Transport (KDMT) also made 16 special buses ply on round trips between Kalyan and Titwala.
“I left home at 8.45 to catch the CST local. The Titwala station was crowded. However, I also saw many people leaving the premises. There was no information about the train on display. After a few minutes, it was announced that train services had been hit. I decided to take a bus and travel to Kalyan. I will catch a CST local from there,” said Aniket Desai, 32, a resident of Ambivli who travels between and Titwala and CST daily.
As the services were disrupted for long the continuous announcement came across as a big relief. I first time realized that appropriate information was given by central railways to ease out the travel to some extent. The special train from klayan and bus service between different stations was a big breather. Though I was late for my office still the situation was well managed,” said Rupesh Dubey, 29 a resident of Ambivli road who travels every day between Ambivli and Thane and works with MNC.
