Goregaon Social case

The seating arrangement in the restaurant is that of church pews with messages from the Holy Bible inscribed on them.

The Dindoshi police have named Riyaaz Amlani, the CEO of Impresario Entertainment and Hospitality, as well as another employee of the company in the case against Goregaon Social. The names were added after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mumbai president and MP Ashish Shelar submitted another complaint, urging the police to add the names of the accused to the first information report (FIR).

“They were angered as the case was registered against unidentified people and the community wanted the liability to be fixed on someone. Watchdog Foundation’s complaint was recorded first. Acting on my complaint, the accused peoples’ names have been brought on record,” Shelar told HT.

An officer from the Mumbai police confirmed that Amlani’s name had been added to the FIR, based on a previous complaint by the Watchdog Foundation. The NGO complained that the stained glass in the restaurant had pictures of saints. It depicted Jesus holding a leather bag, Mother Mary carrying a chain instead of a rosary and Moses is depicted holding a digital tablet.

“We carried out our probe in the case and based only on our investigation, the two names have been added to the FIR. More will be added based on developments,” said police sources who did not wish to be identified.

The NGO also stated that the bar area of the restaurant had a backdrop of a tabernacle set up. The seating arrangement is that of church pews with messages from the Holy Bible inscribed on them.
