In the backdrop of the latest squabble between the saffron allies, Union home minister Rajnath Singh will visit Mumbai on Thursday.
Singh will hold a meeting with the state party leaders and cadre on the occasion of the Modi government completing three years in power. He will also hold a press conference prior to the state level party meeting, to present various policy decisions and achievements of his government.
The Shiv Sena had boycotted the cabinet meeting on Wednesday to express their displeasure over BJP not taking them into confidence while announcing the loan waiver. The party is also against the partial loan waiver for a section of farmers, and wants it to be extended to all 1.34 lakh farmers in Maharashtra.
Give the trouble in the alliance, all eyes will be on Singh, to see if he comments on this uneasy alliance or gives an indication of BJP going solo.
“Until Presidential elections, we are not saying anything. The Union home minister will not comment on the situation but in the state level meeting, it is likely that some leaders will express their unhappiness with having Sena as an ally,’’ said a BJP leader.
