Ten Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers, including three women, were arrested on Thursday night for rioting at VIBGYOR School in Goregaon (West).
While the women have been remanded in judicial custody, the men have been remanded to police custody until June 14.
“We have booked the MNS activists for unlawful assembly, rioting, criminal intimidation and assault or criminal force to deter public servant from doing his duty,” said senior inspector Surendra Paithankar.
Adhishree Gopalkrishnan, a student of Class 10, was not readmitted in the new academic year. A letter was issued to her parents a day prior to the first day of the school, that read: “You have not only participated in but have also lead morchas (protesting against hike in the school fee) to the school where you have shouted slogans against the principal of the school.”
The MNS activists barged into the school on Thursday to discuss the matter. However, the management refused to meet the activists.
The activists then ransacked the school after which a complaint was registered with the Goregaon police.
