Unidentified persons broke into the Andheri residence of a construction contractor and escaped with valuables worth Rs11.66 lakh on Saturday.

Kailash Ghamande, senior police inspector, Amboli police station, said, “On returning home around 3pm, Pankaj Shaha, 56, found that his apartment door was ajar. The jewellery from the cupboard was missing.”

According to the police, valuables worth Rs11.66 lakh, including gold jewellery, cash and a watch, were stolen. Shaha left for work from his Andheri residence at 11am. “Shaha was out of the house for more than 5 hours. The thieves may have struck at that time,” said an officer of Amboli police station.

“Investigations are on. We are trying to trace the culprits,” said Ghamande.
