15-year-old girl raped in Bandra

The Kherwadi police, on Tuesday evening, arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping his 15-year-old neighbour at his residence in Bandra (East).

According to the police, the victim had gone to the house of the accused to borrow cereal around 12.30pm, when he allegedly raped her.

The accused, Sachin alias Babu Sambhaji Nevrekar resided at Sai Krupa Rahivasi Sangh in Vijay Nagar, where the victim also lives with her mother and elder sister, the police said.

“Nevrekar was alone at his house. He allegedly raped the girl and then fled. The victim then narrated the incident to her mother, following which a rape case was registered against Nevrekar,” said an officer from  Kherwadi police station. “The victim was sent for a medical examination. We are now waiting for the reports,” added the official.

The police said that the accused was traced to Nirmal Nagar in Bandra (East) through his mobile phone location on Tuesday evening. He will be produced before a metropolitan court on Wednesday.
