17-year-old sent to juvenile home for molesting minor

A 17-year-old boy molested an eight-year-old girl in a Chembur locality on Wednesday. The accused was arrested by the police on Friday.

A 17-year-old boy molested an eight-year-old girl in a Chembur locality on Wednesday. The accused was arrested by the police on Friday.

According to the police, the girl, who is the daughter of a rickshaw driver, went to buy an ice-candy around 2 pm from a shop where the accused was already present. The accused allegedly said the girl’s friends were waiting for her, took her to a secluded spot and molested her.

The girl raised an alarm, following which, the boy fled from the spot. The following day, the girl narrated this incident to her friend, who in turn told this to the victim’s mother. She then filed a police complaint on Thursday with the Chembur police, following which they arrested the accused.

The police have sent him to the juvenile observation home in Dongri.

Bhimrav Rathod, senior police inspector said following the rape and murder incident with a nine-year-old girl in Nehru Nagar, the Chembur police began awareness campaigns in the localities under its jurisdiction.
