Travelling could be tougher than usual for Central Railway (CR) commuters on Sunday. Railway authorities have planned an 18-hour mega block to dismantle Hancock Bridge near Sandhurst Road station.

The block between CST and Byculla station will start at 12.20am and end at 6pm. During the mega block, main line railway services will run only till Byculla, instead of CST.

CR has cancelled 150 suburban services and 31 long-distance trains. The CR has made arrangements for commuters to continue their journey on the harbour line, which will operate as per its normal days’ schedule instead of the holiday timetable, which has fewer services. The BEST undertaking will run extra services between Byculla and CST.

Outstation train passengers may also face hurdles because trains terminating at CST will end at enroute stations. The departures of 16 outstation trains have been planned from other stations like Panvel, Dadar and Thane.
