She wanted revenge from the man who she blamed for her parents’ separation, instead she landed in jail.

Eighteen-year-old Sapna [name changed] was arrested for allegedly stealing the licenced revolver from Ajmersingh Jarnel Singh’s house. She stole the weapon to prevent him from getting a job as a guard in the city.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said Aj-mersingh (38), Sapna’s father Vijay Singh’s friend from his village in Ferozpur, Punjab, had come to the city looking for a job.

“Ajmersingh had visited Vijay’s family three years ago. He had apparently told Vijay, an ex-serviceman, about the latter’s wife’s extra-marital affair,” Maria said. “Vijay and his wife started having frequent fights. His wife finally left for her parents’ place in Ferozpur.”

Sapna blamed Ajmersingh for her parents’ separation.

This time, when Ajmersingh came to Mumbai, Vijay, who works with a security firm as a supervisor, told him that his licenced revolver could help him get the job of a security guard or bodyguard.

Vijay arranged for a flat for Ajmersingh at Goregaon (West).

On January 3, when Ajmersingh returned home after lunch, he found the door ajar and his briefcase cut open. His .32 caliber revolver and five live rounds were missing. He told the police and the crime branch began a parallel probe.

Investigators learnt that Ajmersingh’s flat-mates would leave a set of the house keys with Sapna. The crime branch questioned Sapna, who confessed.
