An 18-year-old HSC student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of residence on Saturday.

The Bhayander police, who registered a case of accidental death, said the deceased left behind a suicide note saying he had committed a mistake which prompted him to take the extreme step.

The deceased, Vicky Shinde, a student of Lokmanya Mahavidhyalaya in Navghar, stayed with his parents at Ambedkar Nagar.

On Saturday morning, Shinde’s mother knocked on his bedroom door several times, but got no response.

By evening, when he had still not come out of his room,

his parents got worried and broke open the door with the help of neighbours. They found Shinde hanging by a nylon rope.

They informed the police and Shinde was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

In the suicide note found in the room, Shinde said: ‘I am going to God as I made some mistakes,’ police informed.

“We are trying to infer what he was referring to in the note. We are yet to record his family’s statements as they are in a state of shock following the incident,” said SD Wadke, senior inspector of the Bhayander police.

Shinde’s body has been sent to Mira Bhyandar Municipal Hospital for conducting autopsy and the reports are awaited.

The police said that they would also speak to Shinde’s friends and teachers for clues on the suicide motive. As of now, investigations have not revealed anything concrete.

The police have registered an accidental death report further probe is underway.

They will take action based on what the probe reveals, police said.
