Feroz Abdul Rashid, arrested in the 1993 serial bomb blast case, has retracted his confessional statement saying it was obtained by police under duress even as he was remanded in judicial custody by a TADA court till February 26.

Feroz had confessed before police after his arrest early this month that he had travelled outside India on fake passports.

However, he retracted his confession yesterday saying police had threatened to harass his family if he did not sign it, defence lawyer Farhana Shah told PTI.

Feroz, a right hand man of absconding accused Mohammed Dossa, was missing for 17 years and was caught from Navi Mumbai recently.

Considered close to prime absconding accused Dawood Ibrahim, Feroz is facing the charge of participating in the landing operations of arms and ammunition at Dighi coast in nearby Raigad district and distributing weapons to co-accused.
