Two persons were killed and four others injured in an accident in Ghatkopar on Sunday. A speeding truck hit a stationary autorickshaw, dragging it for at least 10 metres, and hit six people in its path.
The truck then hit another auto and a four-wheeler, coming to a halt after hitting a barber shop.
The incident took place near Jalaram temple in Bhatwadi, Ghatkopar (West), around 12:45pm.
While the truck driver fled from the spot, the Ghatkopar police have detained the cleaner. Locals alleged that both the driver and the cleaner, identified as Babaji Gaikwad and Sama Rama Gadi respectively, were under the influence of alcohol. The police have sent Gadi’s blood samples for tests.
