Two firemen, Bashir Mulla, 41, and Rajaram Sawant, 45, sustained major injuries. While Mulla fractured both his ankles, Sawant has a deep gash on his head.

The firemen said they were standing on the foot-over bridge above the colony with water pipes when a cylinder burst and a part of the bridge collapsed.
“I was saved from the flames because a cement slab cut my fall,” said Sawant.
Mulla said, “I held on to a vertical slab while falling. Had I fallen directly I would have died.”
