In the second such incident, reported in a railway quarter at Tardeo in the last fortnight, two men were arrested on Sunday for raping and molesting two minors.

The police said that Rakesh Dol (20) and Nagesh Bhenge (21), lured two neigbhours — aged 14 and 15 —into showing them around the city and then took them to Bhenge’s apartment on Saturday evening.

“The duo took the girls to around the city before they went to Bhenge’s government apartment near Mahalaxmi Railway station bridge at 7.30 pm. Nagesh’s family was not home at that time,” said Police Inspector S. Patil.

While Dol raped the 14-year-old girl, Bhenge molested the 15-year-old. After the incident, the girls managed to escape and approached the police at 1 am on Sunday.

Based on the victims’ complaints, the duo has been arrested by the Tardeo police.

“They will be produced before the court on Monday for police remand,” said Patil.

“We are investigating to find whether Bhenge’s apartment had been rented to his family illegally by a Western Railway employee,” added Patil.

In a previous case on August 12, Sanjay More, a Western Railway employee and his accomplice, Shadab Haidar molested a 28-year-old woman to whom he had illegally rented his government quarter.

The police later stumbled upon several cases of WR quarters being rented out illegally.

The woman, a native of Rajasthan, had signed an 11-month leave and license agreement with more.
