Two sisters, both residents of the Worli BDD Chawl, died in a car crash at the Bandra-Worli sea link on Monday afternoon. There were 10 people in the Toyota Corolla, including seven children.

While Chandrakala Mhetre, 45, died on the spot, Bhanu Poojari, 40, succumbed to her injuries at Bhabha Hospital.

The driver, Ranjeet Wai, Ajay Mhaitre, 10, and Dilip Mhetre, 11, who too have been admitted to Bhabha Hospital in Bandra, are critical.

Wai, who is employed as a driver at a Worli showroom, came home for lunch with the car and took nine neighbours for a ride on the sea link. But he lost control of the car and hit a divider.
