2-year-old, two youngsters die in mishaps

Three people, including a two-year-old, died in two separate accidents, which took place on the state highway on Sunday.

Three people, including a two-year-old, died in two separate accidents, which took place on the state highway on Sunday.

A two-year-old girl died after the jeep she was travelling in skidded and turned on its side.

The victim, Anushka Sachinpuli, was travelling with her parents. They were coming towards Mumbai when the accident took place in Karad on the Pune-Bengaluru highway near Satara in the evening. The roads had become slippery because of the rains, leading the jeep to skid.

According to the State Highway police, while her parents escaped unhurt, Anushka died on the spot. They also said that the incident occurred at around 5pm.

The second accident took place at Khuldabad, on the Mumbai-Aurangabad highway, where two men on a motorcycle died when their vehicle had a head-on collision with a truck. The victims, identified as Uddhav Kadam, 20, and Vitthal Thomre 25, were travelling on towards Mumbai when the accident took place. According to the State Highway police, both of them died on the spot. The victims were allegedly speeding at the time of the accident.
