The special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on Monday rejected the bail application filed by the key accused in the Malegaon 2008 blast.
Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur had moved the court and sought bail citing medical reasons. “We had filed for bail because she is not medically fit. However, the court rejected our prayer,” said defence advocate Rameshwar Gite, who appeared on Thakur’s behalf.
Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit along with 10 others were arrested for carrying out blast at Malegaon on September 29, 2008, in which six persons were killed and nearly 100 were injured. They were booked under MCOCA, the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, besides various provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
