The Saki Naka police arrested a woman and the youngest of her three sons for the murder of her eldest son. The woman, identified as Durga Maurya, and her son Suresh, were caught early on Friday for murdering 22-year-old Chandresh Maurya. Durga’s second son Ramesh, also a suspect, is at large.
The incident took place around 1am at Ekta Co-operative Housing society in Sangharsh Nagar, Sakinaka. Police said Chandresh had a drinking problem, and would often beat up his mother and brothers after returning home inebriated.
On Friday, Chandresh returned home, drunk as usual, and got into a scuffle with his brothers. “He was holding a chopper in his hand. During the fight, he touched his mother inappropriately, at which, Ramesh and Suresh snatched the chopper from his hand and stabbed Chandresh in the chest and abdomen. Their mother Durga also assisted in the murder,” said S Dhanedhar, senior police inspector, Saki Naka police station. Durga, along with her two sons, then informed the police about the incident.
“We have booked them on charges of murder. Durga and Suresh have been arrested, while Ramesh is still at large,” added Dhanedhar.
