The state on Tuesday launched a 24x7 call centre to provide information to the public regarding swine flu symptoms and medication.
Citizens can now dial the toll free number 1800226336, which will have trained paramedical staff to answer queries. “Till now we are focusing on availability of medicines. Proper guidance on instant medication is also vital,” said Milind Mhaiskar, secretary, medical education.
The information services will be available in English, Marathi and Hindi. WHO has warned that the H1N1 infection could have a second round in winter in various parts of the world.
“Since Maharashtra registered 147 swine flu related deaths, we don’t want to take any chance,” added Mhaiskar.
The state in association with Indian Medical Association and Wanbury (a pharmacy company) is conducting workshops for early diagnosis of the flu.
