A 26-year-old man’s lust and greed knew no bounds, quite literally. Imran Masoon Khan raped a 21-year-girl four years ago, made a video of his misdeed to forcibly marry the victim two years later and since then had been harassing her for dowry. The sordid tale didn’t end here as he forced his wife into prostitution to earn a quick buck.
The victim first met Khan, a box-maker from Sakinaka, in 2007 and became friends with him over a few months’ time. They visited a guesthouse at Titwala where Khan spiked her food and raped her.
“He recorded this incident and used it to intimidate her. Khan said if she didn’t agree to marry him, he would make this video public,” said police inspector S Hanchate from Sakinaka police station.
The couple got married in April 2009. Soon after, Khan started harassing her for dowry. “When she could not arrange money, Khan tried to push her into prostitution,” Hanchate said. The victim’s parents sent her to their native place which made Khan upload the video clip on the internet. “We arrested Khan and he has been booked on charges of rape, criminal intimidation, cheating, dowry harassment, and under Sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking of Women and Children Act. We have secured his custody till April 2,” he said.
