The Kandivli police on Wednesday arrested three brothers, who on Sunday, allegedly manhandled a police constable and fled the spot.

The incident reportedly took place at Laljipada police chowky at Kandivli.

According to senior inspector of Kandivli police station Hareshwar Pimple, a fight broke out between the three brothers and constable Mahesh Tandel, who was asking people to not crowd around the spot of an accident.

“There had been an accident in the area that led to a crowd assembling at the spot. Tandel was asking people to not assemble and block the flow of traffic, when he got into an argument with the brothers,” said Pimple.

Following this, the accused manhandled Tandel and fled the spot, police said.

The Kandivli police then registered a case of deterring a public servant from performing his duty and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace against the three.

The trio was tracked down on Wednesday and arrested by the police.
