In the third accident in 10 days on the Bandra-Worli sealink, three people were injured on Wednesday morning.
Worli police said the accident resulted from one of the drivers losing control of his car and veering into the other lane, where it crashed head-on into a car coming from the opposite direction.

Television actor Ashu Singh (27) was driving a Maruti Swift, with his two cousins Suraj (24) and Akash (19). He lost control of the car, swerved into the opposite lane, and crashed into a Maruti Zen, injuring its driver, Minaj Badami (49), who works with a gas company, and was on his way to his Mahalaxmi office.

Badami fractured his leg, Ashu is in Lilavati Hospital with head injuries, and Suraj was discharged after medical treatment.

Police said the Singhs went out driving early on Wednesday morning after having consumed alcohol the previous night.
At Haji Ali, they stopped for sandwiches, then decided to take the sealink back to Andheri where they live. “On the sealink, Ashu lost control due to the wind and collided with Badami’s car,” said Senior Police Inspector Bharat Worlikar.

“Ashu’s cousins said they had consumed alcohol the night before, but were sober when the accident happened. We’ve sent his
blood sample for analysis,” an official from Worli police station said. He has been charged with rash and negligent driving and will be arrested when he is discharged.

“The road is too narrow for two-way traffic and the dividers separating the two sides are also not concrete. In most of the accidents, the driver has veered into the other lane,” Worlikar added.
