A day after the manager of a wine shop owner was shot at in Bhoiwada, three assailants fired at the manager of a jewellery showroom in Andheri (West).
The manager, Prashant Chabbaria (40), sustained a bullet injury on the left side of his abdomen. He was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and is said to be stable.
On Wednesday, three men of Ravi Pujari gang went to Mahesh Notandass Jewellers near Infiniti Mall in Lokhandwala and asked the guard to call the manager. When the guard refused, they started arguing with him after which Chabbaria came out to find out what was happening.
The armed security guard had gone for lunch, said the police, while the two unarmed guards were on duty. “As soon as Chabbaria came out, one of the three men shot at him and fled. While escaping, the country-made revolver fell and it has been seized. We have also found six live rounds,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police K.M.M. Prasanna.
“The revolver of one of the men slipped out of his trousers but he picked it and fleed. We have found the splinter of the second revolver.”
The police suspect that they had parked their vehicle a few yards away from the showroom.
Sources said the men had a letter in their hand, which they wanted to hand over to the manager. Whether the letter was handed over is not known. The police said they will be see the CCTV footage and prepare sketches based on the description given by the security guard.
The showroom owner had been receiving extortion demands for three months.
