Irrespective of the number of subsidised cooking gas cylinders you may have already used in the first six months of this financial year (April 1 to September 30), you are entitled to three additional liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders at Rs 435 till March 31, 2013 .
However, cylinders beyond these three extra ones (of 14.2 kg) will have to be bought at the market price of Rs 906.50 a cylinder.
"Customers of LPG are eligible for three subsidised domestic cylinders till March31, 2013," Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) clarified on Friday.
"But, there is no restriction on the number of domestic non-subsidised cylinders that customers can avail of."
Effective from October 1, the government had announced a scheme restricting the number of subsidised LPG cylinders to six a year.
Because the scheme was made public in the middle of the financial year, consumers as well as dealers were confused over the number of subsidised cylinders that can be availed in the remaining half of the financial year.
