Three policemen, who were allegedly absconding, were arrested on Monday in connection with the alleged fake encounter of Ram Narayan Gupta alias Lakkhan Bhaiya.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating the fake encounter of Chotta Rajan aide, arrested Sub Inspector Ganesh Harpude, Sub Inspector Ananda Pathade and Constable Prakash Kokam from outside the sessions court after their anticipatory bail application was rejected.

“Two policemen, including an inspector, are still wanted in the case,” said an SIT source. Out of 21 accused, SIT has till now arrested 19, including 12 policemen.

Dismissed encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma and suspended senior inspector Pradeep Suryawanshi are the main accused in the case.

Lakkhan Bhaiya was killed in an alleged fake encounter on November 11, 2006 near Nana Nani Park in Versova.

However his brother, advocate Ram Prasad Gupta on November 15, 2006, moved a petition in the high court alleging that his brother was murdered by the police.
