30-year-old run over by train at Malad

mumbai Updated: Jun 07, 2010 00:23 IST

A 30-year-old woman was run over by a Virar-bound fast train while she was crossing the tracks near Chincholi crossing at Malad (West) on Sunday.

Parul Goria sustained grievous head injuries and died on the spot. She is survived by her husband Ganesh (35) and two children — Priya (6) and Mohnish (4).

The Borivli Government Railway Police (GRP) said the incident took place at around 1.45 pm. Parul stayed at her mother’s house at Rajwada Chawl near Chincholi railway crossing in Malad (East). She was a beautician and used to provide services at clients’ houses.

“Parul left the house saying she had to attend to a client and would return soon. She was crossing the tracks to go to Malad (West) and did not notice the speeding train. Before she could nor the driver could react, she was hit by the train,” said Rajesh Shirke, a police of Borivli GRP, requesting anonymity.

Parul was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

Her husband lives at Mazagaon while she had been staying with her mother for the past five months as most of her clients were based here. The GRP officials do not suspect any foul play.
