Around 10 to 15 youngsters murdered a 35-year-old man by attacking him with choppers and steel rods on Friday night.

The accused wanted to take revenge on the victim, Peerbad-shah alias Haji Abdul Sheikh, as he had beaten the youth a few days ago for allegedly molesting and harassing a girl in his locality. The girl’s family, however, did not report the matter to the police, owing to social stigma.

The accused, which include Sadik Shiekh, Shamsuddin Sheikh, Samir Sheikh, Jamir Sheikh and Subhash Marwadi among others, were angry and decided to murder Peerbadshah.

Local residents took the injured Peerbadshah to hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police said Peerbadshah worked as a bouncer at a mall and also as a physical trainer in a Dombivli gymnasium.

One of the accused, Shamsuddhin Sheikh, was arrested by the police in Saturday.

But the others involved are still absconding.
