4 held for duping scrap dealer of Rs 2.80 lakh

Four men, who allegedly posed as employees of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and duped a scrap dealer of Rs 2.80 lakh were arrested on Monday.

The Vakola police said the complainant Rashid Ansari alleged that on September 1, one of the accused posing as an employee of HPCL, called him up and offered to sell him 500 plastic drums.

“On September 13, the accused along with his accomplices came to my office. The explained the terms and I gave them Rs 2.80 lakh,” said Ansari.
Ansari tried calling them but to no avail. The police received a tip-off about the accused and arrested them while trying to cheat another person of Rs 15 lakh.
