Four unidentified men attacked and robbed the employees of a coffee shop outlet at Girgaum Chowpatty on Thursday. They stole a mobile phone and cash worth Rs 30,000.

The DB Marg police said the accused, armed with a chopper and gun woke up two employees of the café sleeping outside the shop at 3.30 am and asked them to open the shop.

The robbers asked the employees, Shaikh Mazgar and Shaikh Aslam, asked them where the cash was kept in the shop.

“The two replied that the manager of the shop had taken the cash, which irked the robbers,” said NR Mail, senior police inspector of DB Marg police station.

The robbers then asked the employees to remove their clothes before attacking them with a chopper on their chests.

“After injuring them, the robbers tied them to chairs and locked them in a room,” said Mali.

The robbers then ransacked the shop and stole Rs 25,000 kept in a drawer and a mobile phone worth Rs 3,000 before fleeing.

“The two have been rushed to Nair Hospital and based on their description we are preparing sketches of the robbers,” added Mali.
