A seven-year-old boy, Soham, was bit on his left leg and genitals after being attacked by a stray dog on Friday morning. He was playing in the yard of his house at Siddhartha Nagar, Manpada in Dombivli (East) when the incident took place.
Soham’s uncle, Shashikant Gaikwad said, “We rushed him to Shastri Nagar Hospital, where he was given two injections. Later we took him to Sai Leela Hospital, Domibivli, where he received six stitches on his genitals.”
Dr BB Kulkarni of Sai Leela Hospital said that the boy’s condition was critical. “We have given him anti-rabies injections as well as other antibiotics. We are keeping him under observation for next 48 hours,” said Kulkarni.
Gaikwad added that, there were around 40 stray dogs in the area and they had attacked several people in the past. “We have complained about it, but in the last four years neither government agencies nor animal shelters have solved this problem,” he said.
