A 72-year-old man — an architect by profession — fell to death from the 16th floor of a residential building in Shivaji Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The Dadar police said Manohar Dhansukh Shah, a resident of Rameshwar Park building near Kirti College, could have lost his balance when he was bending over the wall of his flat.

“There seems to be no foul play in the incident. An accidental death report has been filed,” said Sridhar Jadhav, police sub-inspector, Dadar police station.

Around 12.45 pm, the building’s security guards heard a loud thud and rushed to investigate the sound and found Shah lying in a pool of blood. His wife, who was at home, realised what had happened only when the guards informed her, after which Shah was rushed to Hinduja hospital. Shah was declared dead on arrival; the cause of death was skull injuries.

The body has now been sent to Sion hospital for a postmortem, the police said. His wife Laxmi, 74, son Uday, 36, and daughter Rekha, 34, survive Shah.
