A major fire broke out in a factory at Nagpada on Thursday in which property was destroyed. There were no casualties. The fire broke out around 3:15pm in an ice cream factory at Prabhatwadi behind Raj Oil Mill at Nagpada Junction.

Around seven to eight factories next to it soon caught fire.

Though the fire department was informed immediately, a fire engine arrived only 20 minutes later.

"Before the fire brigade reached the spot, we evacuated all people trapped inside and saved whatever goods we could," said Mohamed Wali Khan, a factory worker.

Vinayak Saude, senior inspector, Nagpada police station, said, "We will wait for the report from the fire department to find out whether there was any negligence because of which the fire started," said Vinayak Saude, senior inspector, Nagpada police station.

In Dharavi, however, one person died and two others were injured after they came in contact with a high-tension wire at a tailoring unit in Dharavi on Thursday afternoon, Dharavi police said.
