Unidentified men broke into an electronic goods’ store at a Ghatkopar mall and made away with high-end mobile phones worth more than Rs1.5 lakh.

The incident occurred at Jagdish electronics, at LBS road in Ghatkopar’s R-city mall between Friday night and Saturday morning. The shop was shut at the time.

The theft was discovered at around 10.30 am on Saturday, when the owner, Nitesh Thakkar, arrived at the shop from his Mulund residence and found the mobile phones missing.

Police said the accused entered the shop by breaking a grill attached to the shutter. “The accused made away with nine mobile phones, worth Rs1.55 lakh in all,” said an officer from Parksite police station, who did not wish to be named.

Police are scanning the CCTV footage obtained from the mall to identify the accused. Senior inspector of Parksite police KJ Gaikwad said: “We have a few leads in the case and the accused will be arrested soon.”
