Over a week after nine-year-old Aditya Sathiyaraj abandoned his house fearing wrath from his father for allegedly coming late to home, the Sion police stated that they have formed teams to locate the standard IV child.
The officials however ruled out any possibility of the child being kidnapped and are probing all possibilities. A missing person’s complaint has been registered.
On October 6, Aditya came home late, when his father Devraj asked him to explain why did he reach late from the coaching classes.
When Devraj was trying to ascertain the time of Aditya leaving from the tuition, the child feared that his father would scold him and hence he ran away. Since then he is not to be seen.
Motiram Kasar, senior inspector of Sion police said, “We were looking if the child had gone to any relative’s place, however, it was not the case as he has little knowledge of the roads outside his neighbourhood. Also none of the relatives stay nearby.”
The officials added that they are in touch with other police stations and have sent Aditya’s description to them to ascertain if he was seen anywhere. The police however feel that there is no possibility of the child getting kidnapped.
Aditya, who studies in Sion's SIES School, has been missing since 4:30 pm on October 6.
His parents stated that they wanted to check where he went, if he left from the class early and came home late.
Apart from sending a wireless message to all police stations in Mumbai and surrounding districts, the police are also checking lodges and hotels in the area.
