Gautam Vora, the 32-year-old stock analyst who was model Viveka Babajee’s friend, is a novice in the stock broking business, insiders said.
Old timers in the stock broking circuit told HT that Vora had taken over ULJK Securities recently and was working with his mother. “He is yet to establish his credentials in the market,” a leading stockbroker said. Vora operates out of the Bombay Stock Exchange. Vora’s father, also a reputed stockbroker, passed away recently.
The head of a broking firm, who did not wish to be named, said, “As of now, we only know him as the son of Madhavi Vora [a leading stock broker],” he said.
Stockbrokers say Vora is known for off-market deals. They sympathise with Vora because of the way he got entangled in the suicide case. “I think he was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said a stockbroker known to the Voras.
Another stockbroker said Vora was “a victim of circumstances”. “I know his family. They are cultured and command lot of respect in the broking community and among large investors,” he said.
