A 22-year-old man died after his bike collided with a four-wheeler at Mahim on Sunday. The deceased Tanumoy Padmakar Shinde was the sole earning member of his family of two sisters, one of who is physically challenged.
At around 6:30 PM, Shinde was driving a Hero Honda Splendour on Mori road in Mahim on the way from his Wadala residence to Bandra. He collided with a Maruti Esteem car.
“The car driver was taking a turn and did not see a speed breaker ahead. The bike was coming at a considerable speed and they collided. Shinde sustained injuries and was rushed to Bhabha hospital and then to Holy Spirit hospital where he was declared dead,” said an officer from Mahim police station.
Shinde’s parents passed away a few years ago and he had been taking care of his sisters, one of whom is physically challenged, said his friends. Police have arrested the car driver, Rahul Vishwanath Tandel, for rash and negligent driving.
