Actor Salman Khan is once again in news for all the wrong reasons.
Phoolbanoo Ilahi, who is paralysed in her legs, filed a petition in the Bombay High Court alleging that the actor’s claim of having helped her was false and that it was a crime on his part to use the same gimmick along with her photograph for publicity of his film Veer.
The High Court has issued notices to the actor, producer of Veer and the city tabloid which published the news article, asking them reply to the allegations in another two weeks. Ilahi who is from Uttar Pradesh, regularly comes to Mumbai for treatment claimed to be a big fan of Khan. She managed to meet Khan at a studio in Goregaon where he was shooting for Veer.
After meeting Khan with her cousin, Ilahi claimed that the actor asked her to get a picture clicked with him.
In December 2009, she came across a news article in a city tabloid with her photograph, which claimed that the actor had donated her Rs 1 lakh. She also claimed that she never received any money from the actor. Taking offence to the wrong news she wrote to Salman Khan and Gilani asking them to apologise in public.
Her advocate Mohammad Iqbal Yunus Solkar argued that Ilahi suffered lot of mental agony because of the false news. She has also faced severe criticism from her relatives and the society, said Solkar.
