Actor Nirmal Pandey passed away on Wednesday. Pandey (48) suffered a severe heart attack at 2.30 pm and died on the way to Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri. The actor is survived by his wife Archana.
Actor Jackie Shroff, his co-star in the film One Two Ka Four said, “Nirmal and I hadn’t been in touch for a long time. We worked together on One Two Ka Four. But then, we lost touch and never worked together again. I was shocked (to hear about his death) because he was a healthy and energetic guy. He was young. He always enjoyed his work. May his soul rest in peace.”
Shroff added he’s willing to lend any support to the deceased actor’s family.
Director Sudhir Mishra, who worked with Pandey on Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, said, “I remember Nirmal as a gentle guy, and someone who was comfortable with his softer side. I was out of touch with him for the past few years. I’m sorry and guilt-ridden.”
Pandey’s last film, Lahore, is ready for release. Debutant director Sanjay Puransingh Chauhan expressed grief: “Nirmal was a strong support. He would always motivate me. He was playing a softhearted Pakistani guy in my film. Nirmal was extremely kicked about his look and character. He hadn’t even seen the film.”
“When we spoke a few days ago, he chalked out a promotional plan with me. I can’t imagine that he will not be part of it anymore. He was to shoot the Making of Lahore in two days. Everything is on hold now,” Puransingh added.
Pandey was seen in films like Bandit Queen, Daayraa, Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi, Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, Shikari and Godmother.
He also worked on TV shows briefly. A graduate from the National School of Drama, he was part of a London-based theatre group, Tara. He was also a singer.
