Actor Aditya Pancholi was arrested a little after Saturday midnight, for allegedly assaulting and abusing a bouncer at a Juhu nightclub.
The Santacruz police said Pancholi got into a brawl with the DJ of the nightclub as he was refused songs of his choice. When the bouncers intervened, he started abusing them and allegedly hit one of them on the head. The actor has been released on bail.
The incident took place around 12.45am at the Hotel Sea Princess on Juhu Tara Road. Pancholi was with a friend. “While dancing, Pancholi went up to the DJ and asked him to play Bollywood songs. He was unhappy with the Western songs being played,” said an officer.
When the DJ did not entertain the actor’s requests, he got into a squabble. When bouncer Mandar Patole tried to escort Pancholi out of the club, the actor allegedly smashed Patole’s head with his phone. Patole was taken to a nearby hospital, the police said.
Pancholi was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
“After we got the complaint from the club, we arrested Pancholi. He was produced before the holiday court and was remanded in judicial custody. He was later released on bail by the court,” said Padmakar Chavan, senior police inspector at Santacruz police station.
