As many as 29,938 students were allotted seats in the third and final merit list for online admissions to First Year Junior College (FYJC), with the release of cut-offs on Friday evening.
City colleges will have to conduct offline admissions from July 9 to July 12 for 296 students who have not been allotted a single seat in any of the three rounds of online admissions until now.
Although cut-offs dropped across the stream, the dip was marginal in the commerce and science stream, but was high in the arts stream with cut-offs dipping by 2% to 4% in colleges.
Arts cut-offs plummeted by 3.85%, from 81.45% to 77.6% in DG Ruparel College, Matunga. Jai Hind College, Churchgate, saw a drop from 93.45% to 82.54% in the cut-offs for arts stream and Mithibai College, Vile Parle, recorded fall from 73.45% to 71.63%.
Students, who have not yet been allotted a seat in any of the online admission rounds, can collect offline admission forms from individual colleges on July 9 and July 10. Colleges will give offline admissions on July 11 and July 12.
Students are worried that few seats will be left in good colleges.
“Those who have scored less than me have been admitted. I am scared that I will not get into any good college," said an FYJC aspirant, who scored 60%.
“We had only 39 seats left in the third round of admissions, but all have been allotted," said Shobhana Vasudevan, principal of RA Podar College.
But, NB Chavan, deputy director of education, Mumbai division assured, “Many seats are vacant in colleges attached to schools and small colleges. No student will be left without a seat."
